On the social media, he posted a photo handing over the keys of Norwegian Breakaway to the new captain Dan Svensson. However, his sea adventure will continue as captain for Viking Ocean Cruises which have launched their latest 47,800 tons cruise ship named Viking Sky.

British sailor Mervyn Wheatley is back on land after being rescued in the Atlantic Ocean from his battered yacht by the cruise liner Queen Mary 2. Cunard’s flagship participated last Saturday in the rescue of a man who had suffered problems with his yacht due to a strong storm. Mervyn Wheatley was participating in the transatlantic race Original Single Handed Transatlantic Race, known as OSTAR when his yacht was battered by strong gusts of wind.

Marc McArthur of Norwegian Cruise Line has been named Diageo Global Travel’s best bartender for 2017. This global bartender competition was held yesterday, June 20, at the Diageo 396 Bar in Miami. In the semi-finals, Marc McArthur, competitors were Lazar Milosavljevic of Celebrity Cruises and Claudio Santos Liborio of Seabourn. The NCL Head Mixologist won this prestigious award with his ‘The Autumn Dram’ cocktail.

Three cruise ship bartenders will compete in Diageo semi-finals

Lazar Milosavljevic from Celebrity Cruises, Claudio Santos Liborio from Seabourn Cruise Line and Marc McArthur from Norwegian Cruise Line will compete in the next round at the Diageo Bar 396 in Miami. This three crew members topped the competition from hundreds of bartenders representing all major cruise lines and only one will go on to Diageo Global Travel at the World Class Bartender of the Year finals which will be in Mexico City from 20-24 August 2017.

Three NCL Crew Members Arrested in Belize for Smuggling Cocaine

Police authorities in Belize arrested three Norwegian Cruise Line crew members last Tuesday, reports Channel 7NewsAccording to the news article, 3 NCL employees were charged with drug trafficking of two kilos of cocaine which they smuggled into the cruise ship from Roatan, Honduras.

Crew Member Missing From MSC Musica

Brazilian woman, part of the MSC Musica crew was reported missing yesterday juts before the cruise ship arrived in the port of Brindisi, Italy. Her disappearance was reported by her colleagues after she didn’t show up on duty at around 3:00 A.M. They immediately went to check into her cabin and noticed that the woman was not there. The crew searched staff areas and later extended the search in the passenger areas.

Injured crew member on board Star Flyer

A 47-year-old crewman of the cruise ship Star Flyer was injured in the head, while the vessel was at sea in the area of Kavala Bay, Greece. The injured crew member was transferred to the port of Kavala with lifeboat where an Ambulance transferred the patient to the General Hospital for monitoring and preventive examinations. We wish him a speedy recovery.

TUI Crew Member Suffers Heart Attack Onboard

A 34-year-old Filipino crew member of the cruise ship "Mein Schiff 5" was evacuated by the Spanish Coast Guard on Tuesday evening due to medical emergency. The vessel was 54 miles from Palma de Mallorca when the ship's officers notified port authorities that a crew member had a heart attack, and was in need of urgent transfer to a hospital for further medical care.
