Pacific Princess Hits Breakwater in Nice

Pacific Princess Compartment Number 2 experienced flooding this morning as the cruise ship tried to dock in the port of Nice, France. The vessel encountered strong winds of 45 knots, which caused Pacific Princess to hit the breakwaters at the dock. Port side of the ship was slightly damaged by the impact. Firefighters and divers responded to the scene and will remain if further assistance is needed.

Cruise Ship Clips Railroad Bridge in Massachusetts

The cruise ship Viking Star operated by Viking Ocean Cruises, on its way to New York City scraped the underside of a Railroad Bridge yesterday, October 12. According to Cape Cod Times, the Army Corps of Engineers is investigating the incident. As seen on the video bellow by Katie Barlow the ship Viking Star slowly sails under the bridge when a mast near the ships funnel scraped the underside of the bridge.

A cruise ship passenger was assaulted and robbed in Funchal, Madeira reports Diario. The newspaper states that on Sunday, October 9, a Danish female cruise passenger was approached by a drug addict who asked her for money.

Fire Damages Several Decks on Norwegian Joy

Red fire alert was sounded at the German Shipyard Meyer Werft on Saturday. The fire broke out in the early morning hours on the Norwegian Cruise Line new build ship Norwegian Joy. The fire started on one of the staterooms balcony on Deck 9, at around 7:50 a.m. The hall was evacuated, and luckily no one was injured. Affected by the fire are several decks of the 326 meter long vessel. 130 firefighters and dozens of rescue workers were deployed to the shipyard.

The mid-size cruise ship Oceana operated by P&O Cruises, was filmed sailing thru monster waves. The video was caught by a passenger sailing on another cruise ship as the two vessels sailed nearby. As you can see from this amazing video bellow, the ships bow is submerged by this huge waves couple of times. P&O Oceana is 77000 tonnage vessel with 2272 maximum guest’s capacity, build in 2000.

Royal Princess emerged from the dry dock in Palermo with a giant hull logo. The cruise ship is the first in Princess Fleet to receive this distinctive logo, one of the largest in the cruise line industry.
