Jul 04, 2019

A search is underway after a crew member was reported overboard from the cruise ship Carnival Victory. The Man Overboard was reported three hours ago while the cruise ship was sailing back to Miami, some 25 nautical miles northwest of Cuba.

The authorities and the US Coast Guard were immediately notified and a search and rescue operation is currently underway.

Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed the MOB saying that the team member was witnessed falling overboard. The vessel turned back to the location where the crew member was last seen. The crew have lowered a life raft in hopes to find the missing person. According to sources, onboard the person went overboard from the ship’s port side, however, it is not clear from which deck he fell. The Coast Guard has deployed HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane and Coast Guard Cutter Charles Sexton (WPC-1108) to search for the missing person.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual’s family and all Carnival Cruise Line team members during this difficult time and we hope the crew member will be found alive and well.
