Royal Caribbean Cruises is operating a training facility in Maragondon Cavite, Philippines, managed by PHILCAMSAT - Philippine Center for Advanced Maritime Simulation and Training. The company currently employs around 11.000 Filipino crew members working on board the world’s largest cruise ships and plans to hire up to 30.000 Pinoy crew in the following years. Therefore Royal Caribbean is investing in state-of-the-art training facility in Maragondon Cavite.

Cruise Lines Ban the Use of Galaxy Note 7

Several cruise lines have banned the use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone aboard their ships. The Korean manufacturer has recently launched a recall for these mobile devices, due to a defect in the battery may overheat and catch fire. The cruise companies that have imposed ban are the Carnival Corporation & plc and  Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. brands, as well as Disney Cruise Line . The ban applies to both guests crew members.

Going on Cruise Just to Ride an Elevator?

Just when you thing you seen all on cruise ships another video pops up. Nothing unusual, a teenage boy from Sweden riding an elevator on cruise ship, going up and down from deck 1 to 12 numerous times. Children usually do this kind of things, however the thing is that this kid has over 30 videos on You Tube of riding elevators in different places. This video expressing his obsessive interests was filmed on Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas. In total he posted 9 videos filmed in the ships elevators, spending around two hours going up and down.

Fire on Norwegian Joy

The German Meyer Werft shipbuilding dock 2 was evacuated today due to a fire that started during construction works on Norwegian Cruise Line latest ship, Norwegian Joy. According to Meyer Werft spokesman Gunther Kolbe, the fire started at around 7 a.m. at a junction box of the cruise ship. All workers were evacuated from the affected production area and firefighting teams were send to the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished and there are no injured workers.

60 Tons Crane Falls Next to Royal Princess

During the scheduled dry dock in Palermo on Princess Cruises ship Royal Princess, a 60 tons crane fell to the yard just next to the ship. The accident happened yesterday inside the basin during a lifting operation. The crane detached from the top of the fixed platform which was a cause of the accident. Fortunately no one was near the place where the crane fell and there are no reported injured workers.
