Nov 30, 2020

Two MSC cruise ships departed from South America and set sail on a trans-Atlantic voyage back to Europe. The decision to cancel the South American season for MSC Musica and Sinfonia comes after the closing of the borders in Uruguay as well as Brazil’s decision to restrict the entry of foreigners by land and sea for 30 days, report Brazilian media.

  • MSC Sinfonia departed from Salvador de Bahia, on November 26 and is currently sailing to the port of Trieste, Italy where is expected to arrive on December 26.
  • MSC Musica departed from Santos, Brazil and is expected to arrive in Tenerife, Canary islands December 10, according to the ship-tracking website MariineTrafic.

The third MSC cruise ship in Brazil, MSC Seaview, is still off the coast of Santos pending the approval of the health and safety protocol by the local authorities to allow operations to resume. MSC plans to restart cruise operations aboard MSC Seaview on January 16, with departures from Santos and Rio de Janeiro for Brazilian residents only.
