Pride of America Cancels Hawaii Ports Due To Adverse Conditions

May 15, 2018

Norwegian Cruise Line announced it will cancel this week stops in Hawaii. The cruise ship Pride of America which makes regular voyages around Hawaii will not make any stops this week because of “adverse conditions” on the island. The cruise line released a statement today saying that their cruise ship will not call in Hilo on Tuesday, instead will spend a day at sea. Also, the arrival in Kona on Wednesday has been canceled and will be replaced with additional day in Maui and call in Lahaina instead.

“At Norwegian Cruise Line, the safety and security of our guests and crew is our top priority. We have been closely monitoring the adverse conditions impacting the Big Island of Hawaii and are modifying the itinerary of Pride of America to ensure our guests have the best vacation experience possible,” NCL  said in a statement.

Previously Norwegian Cruise Line canceled one of the visits last week. Royal Caribbean International has also canceled one port-of-call on the Big Island by Radiance of the Sea last week.

The tourism sector has been hit hard by the Kilauea volcano eruption. On Monday, officials said that another fissure spewing lava and unhealthy gas opened up, and a crack in the Earth that emerged a day earlier was sending molten rock on a slow run for the ocean.
