Tropical storm Gordon affects Majesty of the Seas itinerary

Sep 04, 2018

Royal Caribbean cruise ship Majesty of the Seas delayed its departure from the Port of Tampa due to the Tropical storm Gordon. The plan of the current 5-night Western Caribbean voyage is Majesty of the Seas to stay away from the center of the tropical storm giving plenty of room to drop south behind it. The delayed departure will flip Itinerary but the ship will make it to Costa Maya and Cozumel. Gordon is currently hitting south Florida, with strong winds and heavy rains, so as the storm continues it will affect the Gulf of Mexico.

Royal Caribbean Chief Meteorologist, James Van Fleet, explained the forecasts estimate that the storm will continue to increase in the coming days. The United States Coast Guard and the Weather Service Tampa Bay determined delayed departure of the ship until midnight.

James Van Fleet tweeted “Update @RoyalCaribbean #MajestyoftheSeas, plan is to leave by Midnight, that will give us plenty of room to drop south behind Tropical Storm #Gordon. Expecting it becomes a Hurricane tracking towards New Orleans/Mobile. We will flip Itinerary but still make all Ports of Call.”
