Crew Member Dies Onboard Carnival Sunrise

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of one of Carnival Cruise Line team members, Mario Monteverde who was working as Assistant Plumber.

Mario Monteverde age 36, passed away on January 10, onboard Carnival Sunrise as the cruise ship was sailing to its homeport of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Announcement was posted on January 11, in the ship’s crew area signed by the Master of the vessel Captain Bruno Palomba that reads :

"Dear Carnival Sunrise Crew Members,

As some of you may have already heard, one of our team members, Assistant Plumber Mario Monteverde, passed away yesterday evening.

Mario was born and raised in Peru and began his career with us in 2014.

He was eager to give advice on family life and always had a positive attitude.

He is survived by his daughter, wife, and parents. His family has been notified and our Care Team is providing necessary support.

The loss of a friend and colleague is a difficult experience for all of us. We realize some of you may be affected by this loss. Should you feel that you need support, please let your Department Head, HR Director or Medical Team know."

Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to Mario Monteverde's family, as well as to all Carnival crew.

At this moment there are no details about what exactly happened to Mario or the cause of the death.
