Jun 02, 2021

A 53-year-old crew member of the cruise ship Norwegian jade was medically evacuated off the coast of Chania, Crete and transferred to a local hospital. According to Flash News the medevac took place yesterday in coordination with the ship’s officers and the Greek Coast Guard.

Norwegian Jade sailed from the port of Piraeus (Athens) and while at sea, around 36 nautical miles northwest of Crete, informed the Joint Search and Rescue Coordination Center LS-EL .ΑΚΤ. that a crew member needed hospital treatment.

The Center informed the Port Authority of Chania and while the cruise ship approached the port, a Navy patrol boat was deployed and transferred the 53-year-old crew member on shore. We wish the crew member speedy recovery and hope he gets well soon.

Scheduled to sail 7-day voyages to the Greek Isles from Athens (Piraeus) starting July 25, Norwegian Jade will be the first NCL cruise ship to restart cruise operations. The ship is currently sailing only with crew members on board.

In May Crew Center reported that NCL is crewing up Norwegian Jade for the upcoming summer season. Crew from all around the world have boarded the ship in the port of Bar, Montenegro where the vessel was docked for the past month.
