Ex-Holland America Ship Breaks Moorings And Hits Sandbar In Corinth

The cruise ship Aegean Majesty (former Holland America Line - MS Veendam) broke her mooring lines during strong overnight winds in the port of Corinth Greece, according to a video posted online by the Korinthostv. Port Authorities said that the ship broke free on November 7, at around 4:30 a.m. due to strong winds, and was grounded on a sandbar 50 meters away from the port.

In August Holland America line sold two of the S-Class ships ms Veendam and ms Maasdam to the Greek ferry company Seajets. Since then the vessels have been renamed Aegean Majesty and Aegean Myth respectively. The Aegean Majesty was docked In Corinth since October 15.  At this moment there is no information available about possible damage to the vessel. 

Korinthos TV posited several videos of the incident, including the moment when the ship actually broke moorings and started drifting.
