First Carnival Cruise Ship Returns to Grand Turk After 21 Months

Dec 17, 2021

Carnival Freedom called at Grand Turk this Wednesday, marking the company’s first time back to the port since resuming cruises. The cruise ship departed Port Miami on 12th of December, starting the six-day eastern Caribbean cruise, visiting company’s private Bahamian island Half Moon Cay and Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic.

“We are delighted to bring Carnival Freedom back to Grand Turk and to offer our guests the opportunity to experience all of this port’s beauty once again,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “On behalf of Carnival, I would like to thank the Turks and Caicos Islands Government and all our partners on the ground in Grand Turk for working with us to make this opportunity possible.”

Carnival Cruise Line financed the $50 million Grand Turk Cruise Center in 2006, so it can accommodate as many as three cruise ships at one time. Few cruises were cancelled prior getting the island ready to welcome the ships after the big pause, including setting up protocols to keep everyone protected.

Various fun activities await the tourists when in Grand Turk, from enjoying the beach, stretched on either side of the cruise pier, having fun in the biggest Margaritaville in the Caribbean with pool and Flow Rider surfing simulator, to spending the day at Jack’s Shack tasting the strong cocktails and local specialties.

Also available are water sports, horseback riding, ATV tours, fishing excursions, and tours of historical sites.

Carnival Cruise Line has scheduled to have 19 ships back in operation by the end of this year, and the rest are to be back by March, 2022.
