NCL Reveals Norwegian Bliss Hull Art

Oct 27, 2016

Continuing with the tradition of exceptional art with a unique artistic motif Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed the hull design of their latest cruise ship, Norwegian Bliss. Named “Cruising with the Whales,” the hull art by the famous marine artist Wyland features image of a mother humpback whale and her calf as centerpiece of the ships distinctive design.

“Humpback whales are an iconic part of the Alaska landscape and one of the most compelling sights visitors can see while cruising the Last Frontier. It was only fitting that an artist of Wyland’s caliber should create the artwork for our first ship designed for Alaska, which includes humpback whales and other signature marine life found in the world’s oceans. We hope that our guests are just as inspired as we are by this beautiful artwork.” Said Andy Stuart, Norwegian Cruise Line president and chief executive officer.

Norwegian Cruise Line is known for exceptional hull paintings and they have long been established as company trademark. Among the recent, prominent artists engaged in the Norwegian Cruise Line ships hull designs are Peter Max for Theme New York on Norwegian Breakaway, Guy Harvey for Theme Miami on Norwegian Escape and Tan Ping for Theme China on Norwegian Joy.

The 4,000-passenger ship Norwegian Bliss is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. After Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Joy is the third cruise ship in the Breakaway Plus class and is expected to be delivered to NCL in the spring 2018.
