Oct 26, 2016

After an extensive search for Harmony of the Seas godmother, Royal Caribbean has announced the honorary educational hero. Brittany Affolter, 23 year-old teacher working for “Teach for America” in Miami-Dade County will christen the world’s largest cruise ship. After its inaugural Mediterranean season, Harmony of the Seas is already en route to its homeport Fort Lauderdale, where the christening ceremony will be held on November 11, 2016.

The search for godmother was long and involved online voting and also cruise passengers were able to vote between three educational hero teachers and Brittany has received the majority of votes. This Miami-Dade teacher will have the tough task of inspiring the next generation of South Florida children, to dream big, think differently and challenge the status quo. In addition to the godmother title, Brittaney will also receive $25,000 donation for Teach for America in Miami-Dade.

"I am honored to been chosen as Harmony of the Seas godmother, and I hope that my story will help give voice to all the hard-working teachers who give so much of themselves to make a significant difference. It’s important for me to help the children understand that no matter what is going on in their lives, they can reach all the dreams you have for yourself." said  Brittany Affolter.
