Carnival Cruise Line Employees Participate in International Coastal Cleanup Day

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Job well done by several hundreds of Carnival crew members and shore side employees who participated in the International Coastal Cleanup Day. On September 19, they did their part to help environment by cleaning the coast and beaches in different seaside locations from Europe, Florida and the Caribbean to Central America. Carnival Cruise line employees give a great example of the line’s ongoing commitment for environmental protection and preservation.

In Europe Carnival Vista crew team cleanup the coast line in Valleta, Malta, while the ship was anchored in this Mediterranean port. On the rocky beach of Exiles Bay in Sliema they contributed in the cleanup together with Valletta Cruise Port plc. employees.

Last year nearly 800,000 volunteers participated in the International Coastal Cleanup Day, collecting more than 18 million pounds of trash. Each year thousands of tons of garbage ends up in the oceans, and 60% is plastic material. Plastic is highly hazardous to marine life, killing millions of birds and over 100,000 seals, and whales every year.
