The Port of Lisbon has expanded its annual Cruise Activity Awards to spotlight sustainability and community involvement, introducing a new category at this year’s ceremony on March 23.
For the first time, organizers included a dedicated section under the “Cruise Lines for the Community” program, recognizing cruise companies for their role in social and environmental initiatives across the city.
Carnival UK received the Excellence in Community Engagement Award for its contributions to local projects. Crew members from Queen Anne, Britannia, and Arcadia took part in three beach clean-up operations, collecting a total of 60 kilograms of litter and helping preserve Lisbon’s coastline.
Additional efforts included donation campaigns led by Arcadia and Ventura, delivering around 400 kilograms of equipment and materials to ENTRAJUDA, an organization supporting social solidarity institutions.
Meanwhile, MSC Cruises and the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) were recognized for their “All Aboard!” project. The initiative engaged around 70 fifth-grade students in Lisbon through educational activities designed to strengthen ties between the local community and the cruise industry.
