Costa Fascinosa Crew Comes to the Rescue of Yacht in the Atlantic

Submitted by kgnadmin on

The cruise ship Costa Fascinosa became a lifeline for a stranded sailing yacht during its transatlantic voyage to the Caribbean. On December 14, 2024, while crossing the Atlantic toward the Caribbean Islands, the Costa Fascinosa received a call from a nearby Canadian-flagged vessel that had run out of fuel.

At 5:00 p.m. Costa Fascinosa Captain made decision to divert the ship’s course southward to assist. After a three-hour journey, the cruise ship reached the yacht. A lifeboat was dispatched to refuel the vessel, and by 9:00 p.m., Costa Fascinosa resumed its westward route toward Barbados. The successful operation was met with cheers from passengers, and the ship’s horn sounded in celebration.

The Costa Fascinosa departed from Savona, Italy, on December 5 for a 14-day transatlantic voyage and is scheduled to arrive in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, on December 19. Despite the detour, the operation is not expected to delay the ship’s arrival at its final destination.
