Costa Fortuna to Join Margaritaville at Sea

The cruise ship Costa Fortuna, set to depart the Costa Cruises fleet in 2026, has officially found its new owner Margaritaville at Sea.

The acquisition, announced by Margaritaville at Sea CEO Christopher Ivy, signals the cruise line's growing optimism with strong passenger return rates and positive business results.

The Costa Fortuna, which will join the Margaritaville fleet in late 2026 or early 2027, significantly exceeds the size of Margaritaville's existing ships. At over 102,500 gross tons, the vessel accommodates approximately 3,450 passengers—about 30% more capacity than the current flagship, Margaritaville Paradise, which hosts 2,650 guests.

"We can do more in terms of new concepts, new venues," Ivy said, highlighting the line's intent to integrate successful elements from existing ships.

While details regarding the ship's future name and homeport remain undisclosed, Margaritaville at Sea confirmed plans to renovate the Costa Fortuna, aligning it with the line's signature style and ambiance.

Ivy hinted at ambitious plans, revealing the company's "whiteboard of ideas" includes a possible dedicated venue honoring Margaritaville’s "heroes," such as members of law enforcement, military personnel, and medical professionals.

Until the handover, Costa Cruises will continue operations onboard the Costa Fortuna until late 2026, after which Margaritaville at Sea will embark on transforming the ship for its anticipated debut.
