With the delivery of the first LNG-powered cruise ship named AIDAnova the cruise industry enters a new era. The German shipbuilder Meyer Werft delivered AIDAnova on December 12, the first vessel of the new generation cruise ships ordered by Carnival Corporation for AIDA Cruises.
The special occasion was marked by AIDA Cruises with the release of the song dedicated to all crew members named The AIDAnova Crew Song - The journey begins. AIDAnova set sail on Wednesday from the port of Bremerhaven to the Canaries, where it will board its first passengers on 19 December. This revolutionary vessel will stop in Lisbon on the way, scheduled for December 16th. The ship will be operated this winter on week-long cruises through the Canaries and Madeira. Then he will be repositioned for the 2019 summer season in the western Mediterranean, with stops in the Balearic Islands, in Barcelona, in the Italian ports of Civitavecchia and Livorno, as well as in Marseille.
AIDAnova measures at 337 meters and 42 meters wide with 183,900-GT with capacity for 5,228 passengers, served by 1,500 crew members.
