Cruise Line wins award for online crew training

At the prestigious Educational Fair Didacta in Stuttgart, Germany, the cruise company AIDA Cruises was awarded eLearning "Project of the Year" in the category "Learning Management System". AIDA Human Resources had previously applied with a fully automated online beginners training for newly hired crewmembers.

In order to train new AIDA crew members, a flexible, interactive and easy-to-use online tool was developed, by the HR team in which prepares future staff in the area of guest service for their upcoming responsibilities. The variety of media building blocks combined with the sophisticated graphics ensures a varied and motivated learning.

"The development of our new onboarding was a very comprehensive and versatile project. Through new methods, gamification and the integrated feedback culture, it is a big step forward at the digital level in the training area. The great advantage over the previous face-to-face training sessions is that each member of the crew can complete the training according to their individual learning tempo - regardless of time and place." said Sofie Jähnig, Manager Experience & Training at AIDA Cruises.

The new online training has proven huge success in practical use for several months. Already more than 1,600 international crew members had a smooth introduction to the life and work aboard the AIDA fleet thanks to the online tool.
