MSC Cruises has announced that actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore will serve as the Godmother of its newest U.S. flagship, MSC World America. Barrymore will take part in the ship’s official Naming Ceremony on April 9, 2025, at the new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal in Florida, where she will cut the ribbon and trigger the traditional champagne bottle-breaking ritual.

“When MSC Cruises asked me to be the Godmother of MSC World America, I immediately said yes!” Barrymore shared. “I absolutely love to travel—it fuels my soul—and being part of something that helps people set off on incredible adventures is just amazing. Cruises have this magical way of letting you explore the world in such a fun and unexpected way. To be able to name MSC World America and send the ship off with well wishes and good luck is such an honor.”

The Naming Ceremony will welcome global press, dignitaries, and travel advisors, who will enjoy a gala dinner, entertainment, and an exclusive first look at MSC World America’s offerings. Following the event, the ship will embark on a special 3-night sailing to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the cruise line’s private island in The Bahamas.

Barrymore and fellow actor Orlando Bloom are also featured in MSC Cruises’ latest “Let’s Holiday” campaign, showcasing the excitement and adventure of sailing with MSC Cruises.
