Hurricane Jose to affect Carnival and Princess Itineraries

Submitted by kgnadmin on

The latest Atlantic Hurricane Jose has prompt cruise lines to change their itineraries. Jose is currently off the coast of South Carolina and is projected to follow the Eastern seaboard as a hurricane force storm until Tuesday before weakening as it heads further north.  Therefore as a safety measure Princess Cruises vessel Regal Princess will arrive in New York one day ahead of its schedule.

A statement released by the cruise company says “Regal Princess scheduled calls to Boston and Newport have been canceled. Heavy weather conditions have been forecast so the ship will instead sail directly to New York for an early arrival of 8 a.m. on September 22, subject to berth availability. Regal Princess was originally due to arrive in New York at 6 am on September 23.”

Carnival Cruise Line sent a notice to passengers that Sunday’s voyage to Bermuda would be delayed as Carnival Pride rides away from the storm in Chesapeake Bay.

A statement released by the cruise company read “We have been closely monitoring the track of Hurricane Jose in the Atlantic. Based on the most updated forecast, there is a possibility our arrival time into Bermuda may be impacted. It is likely we will need to keep the ship in the Chesapeake area upon our departure from the Port of Baltimore to allow the storm time to pass. The captain will provide you with regular updates on board.”
