Man Overboard on Windstar’s Star Breeze

Code Oscar was sounded on the Windstar cruise ship Star Breeze after a passenger was reported overboard while the vessel was sailing off the coast of the Marquesas Islands in in French Polynesia. The incident happened during a 14-day Tahiti voyage, and local media reports say the passenger went overboard after an argument with his wife.

 

The passenger is believed to be a 66-year-old U.S. citizen. Reports indicate he went overboard at around 2:00 a.m., though the exact circumstances are still being investigated and authorities have not released full details.

 

After the alert was raised, authorities were notified and search operation started. The French Navy patrol boat Gardian was dispatched to the area and arrived at the scene at approximately 8:00 a.m., joining efforts to locate the missing man.

Star Breeze later continued to Hiva Oa in the Marquesas, where it arrived Monday afternoon. Police investigators boarded the ship after arrival and began initial interviews as part of the ongoing investigation into what happened.

 

Search efforts and the investigation remain ongoing.
