Matthew and Camila McConaughey to Christen Star Princess

Princess Cruises announced that Academy Award–winning actor Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila McConaughey, a New York Times bestselling author and philanthropist, have been named the godparents of the line’s newest ship, Star Princess. The couple will officially christen the vessel during a naming ceremony on November 6, joining a distinguished roster of Princess godparents that has included global icons such as Princess Diana, Audrey Hepburn, and Sophia Loren.

“We are honored to welcome Matthew and Camila McConaughey as the godparents of Star Princess,” said Gus Antorcha, President of Princess Cruises. “Their energy, generosity, and inspiring presence embody the very essence of Princess. As we look ahead to an exciting new chapter for our fleet, there could not be a more fitting pair to bestow good fortune upon our newest ship.”

The Star Princess is the sister ship to the celebrated Sun Princess and represents the next evolution of the fleet. Spanning 21 decks with capacity for 4,300 guests, the ship will offer 1,500 balcony staterooms, 30 unique restaurants and bars, and a broad array of entertainment and enrichment experiences.

The vessel will debut on October 4 with 11-day Mediterranean voyage, calling at Barcelona, Marseille, Rome, and Gibraltar before crossing the Atlantic to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Beginning November 7, Star Princess will launch her first season of Caribbean itineraries.
