Medical Emergency On P&O Britannia

A medical emergency aboard P&O Cruises' Britannia prompted the ship to make an unscheduled arrival into the Cromarty Firth, Scotland, on the evening of Sunday, June 8, 2025. The vessel was originally been scheduled to arrive in the port of Invergordon on the morning of Monday, June 9.

According to tracking data the ship deviated from its itinerary and made a brief stop at the Port of Nigg around 6:45 p.m. local time, where the ill individual was reportedly transferred ashore for urgent medical care. Following the disembarkation, Britannia proceeded on a slow transit through the Moray Firth before returning to the Cromarty Firth and docking in Invergordon as originally planned.

A spokesperson for P&O Cruises said that the ship altered course to ensure the passenger received appropriate medical assistance. Britannia is currently sailing a 14-night British Isles itinerary, which departed from Southampton on Friday.

The identity and nationality, of the person in need of medical attention have not been disclosed. For reasons not yet clarified, an airlift was not performed, and the transfer had to take place by port access.

As of now, no further details have been released regarding the person's condition.
