Submitted by kgnadmin on

Royal Caribbean announced cancelation of the current voyage of Anthem of the Seas. The cruise ship is currently sailing to its homeport Cape Liberty, New Jersey and is expected to arrive on Wednesday, after encountering a strong storm in the Atlantic.

Due to wind gusts of up to 115 MPH and 25 ft. wave’s ship suffered damages in the public areas, different venues, cabins and many windows were shuttered. Some passengers say that the captain made announcement that the ship was also hit with a 40 ft. monster wave.

The decision to pullback from the current voyage Royal Caribbean made out of concern for guests' comfort and safety. All guests onboard will receive full refund and a 50% discount for the net cruise.

Guests praise the crew members and ships officers saying they were very helpful and keeping them informed about the latest developments.

Royal Caribbean released a statement

"due to weather forecasted for the next few days that is likely to impact the ship’s original itinerary. We are also sensitive to the fact that our guests have already been through an uncomfortable ride. Returning to Cape Liberty minimizes the risks of further bad weather affecting our guests’ voyage; we are optimistic that they will have a smooth sail home."

After Anthem of the Seas returns to Cape Liberty, the ship will be inspected and interior damages will be fixed. Anthem of the Seas has three days to fix most of the damages caused by the storm because her next voyage starts on 13.02.2016.
