Independence of the Seas  passenger was evacuated after suffering eye injury from a popping champagne cork. The incident occurred while the Royal Caribbean ship was sailing away from Port Everglades on a 4 Night Western Caribbean Cruise.  The cork struck woman’s right eye from a champagne that she purchased on land.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the medical offshore emergency evacuation by sending fireboat with medics.

The 33 year old woman was first treated in the ships infirmary, however the woman needed urgent medical attention on land.

After assessing that the injury needed urgent attention the passenger was taken to the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.
