10 Years Prison for Cruise Ship Crew Member for Smuggling Narcotics

Former NCL crew member Desrick Gordon (23, St. Vincent and the Grenadines) was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for smuggling narcotics with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine by U.S. District Judge Richard A. Lazzara. 

Desrick Gordon together with four Norwegian Sun crew members was arrested in Tampa in March 2015 with 7.5 kilograms. The  law enforcement., agents also seized $53,369 from the crew members.  The crew needed to distribute the cocaine from Roatan to Tampa where two local drug traffickers, with ties to Honduran source of supply, needed to take over the drugs. All five crew members together with the local traffickers were arrested by Tampa law enforcement.

According to the evidences the packages ranged from 750 grams to a kilo of cocaine.

All five Norwegian Cruise Lines crew members worked as galley utility stewards.
