Costa Cruises selects four designers for their future ships

Costa Cruises has selected four international design firms, Jeffrey Beers International, Dordoni Architetti, Partner Ship Design and Rockwell Group to create the interiors of the two new boats will receive 180,000 tons in 2019 and 2021. In addition to use more efficient space ship, design comments and suggestions from passengers Costa will be taken into account, thus creating a better experience on board. New Costa ships will be the first of the cruise industry, along with the two new ships announced already by AIDA Cruises, the German brand of Costa Group, and the three new ships recently commissioned by Carnival Cruise Line and P & O Cruises, which will be powered with Liquefied Natural Gas. The ships will be built at the Meyer shipyard in Turku, Finland. Each exceed the 180,000 gross tons, offering more than 2,600 cabins for a total of 6,600 passengers on board. 

The Italian spirit

Each of the firms chosen by Costa Cruises to decorate their new ships has extensive experience in the design world within the hospitality industry and has extensive experience in projects such as hotels, restaurants and public spaces. The team will aim to make an innovative design concept, based on the history and tradition of the brand, be the expression to fit the philosophy of ' the Best of Italy '. 

As creative director, the renowned designer Adam D. Tihany oversee the design and branding of new ships. "The theme 'Best of Italy' is a true celebration of design, Italian culture and spirit , " said Tihany. 

AWK sister company Partner Ship Design, have the functions of coordination and work closely with the shipyard Meyer Turku and design teams. Partner Ship Design will lead the design of two restaurants and several bars, including the new 'I Bacari' as well as the upper passenger decks and pool areas. Jeffrey Beers International will offer its expertise, vision and architectural precision for the creation of casino and multiple restaurants, bars and lounges. 

The new layout and interiors of all cabins and corridors and stairs, will be developed by Dordoni Architetti, which will bring its own touch of new, innovative and sophisticated Italian design. This company also will lead the design of the gym and the Japanese restaurant. 

Finally, Rockwell Group will create innovative and distinctive designs for different areas of the ship. The contribution of this firm includes a three - story atrium that will have a cafe, bar and performance space; several restaurants and bars; a theater and a club; a beach club and a pool; shorex office and a gallery; . and areas for children and youth.
