Charges dropped against Disney crew member accused of child abuse

Miami-Dade County State Prosecutor has dropped all the charges against the 24-year-old youth host Oliver Lovatt, who was accused of molesting a 10-year-old child onboard the cruise ship Disney Magic.

The Miami-Dade County Police Department arrested Oliver Lovatt on an allegation that he sexually molested a young boy on two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12. The arrest report said the incident was captured on the ship's CCTV cameras.

Court records show that the case against Oliver Lovatt, who was arrested in May was closed on Monday, the same day the trial was scheduled to start. The closing note reported that the charges were dropped because the parents of the alleged victim thought it would be a very difficult process to travel to Miami for their son to testify.

Disney permanently removed the youth host from his job after the accusation was reported to the authorities saying they have zero tolerance for this type of unacceptable behavior.

Lovatt, who is a citizen of the United Kindom, was jailed without bail pending a criminal trial. He was imprisoned for six months while waiting for the trial. Previously prosecutors offered Lovatt a plea agreement to accept a charge of a misdemeanor offense which he rejected the offer.
