Disney Cruise Line working on flights for the Indonesian and Filipino crew

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Disney Cruise Line crew members, currently stranded on Disney Magic in the port of Dover, UK are waiting for repatriation. Disney transferred crew members from the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream to Disnay Magic which arrived in Dover, UK, May 19, 2020. Crew members were initially informed by Disney of its intention to fly them back home from the UK via commercial flights, as opposed to private charter flights, one crew member said.

DCL Filipino crew members were originally scheduled to fly home from the UK on different dates starting May 24, 2020, however, DCL subsequently canceled the flights and crew members are now staying on the ship, awaiting further information. They have been at sea since the onset of COVID-19, which is mid-March 2020. That's running to almost 2 months and a half!

A crew member is asking if the manning agency of these crew members, has any intention, or at the very least taken any steps at this point in time, to extend assistance for the repatriation of the stranded crew members in UK?

“Some European crew members have already been sent home, how about our own Filipino crew members? Shouldn't TDG take the initiative at this stage, to step up and coordinate with Philppines OWWA for the repatriation of stranded Filipino crew members? Just asking ...because I am deeply concerned on the mental well-being of our very own stranded Filipino Crew members. I hope you feel the same.”
