Costa Cruises: Covid-19 swab tests to all embarking guests

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Costa Cruises announced today that the company has obtained RINA Biosafety Trust Certification, further enhancing health protocols for a responsible and safe restart of voyages in September, with Costa Deliziosa and Costa Diadema. As part of the safety protocols all guest bording the ships will perform the antigenic Covid-19 swab tests.

The test will be carried out together with wider pre-boarding procedures that have been defined according to the protocols of the health authorities and the Costa Safety Protocol. The quick antigenic test will identify any suspicious cases that may be subjected to a PCR test for further check, thus determining the possibility of embarkation. The company is also offering guests an option to subscribe to dedicated insurance, with specific services in case of need.

The Biosafety Trust Certification is based on the ISO’s systematic approach to management systems combined with scientific best practices against the spread of infections together with the principles of organizational behavior management (OBM) to effectively control and prevent a contagion in a work context.

To obtain RINA certification, specific training modules for Costa Cruises crew have been created in strict compliance with the new health protocols and with the associated shipboard management system implemented by the company.  These training programs are designed to reinforce the already strict protocols in place on board Costa's ships, in the embarkation terminals and during shore excursions, introduced with the new health protocol developed by Costa Cruises, with the scientific support of independent experts, in response to the COVID-19 situation.

The return of Costa cruises will be progressive with a main focus on maximum safety for guests, crews and destination communities visited by Costa ships.

Starting from September 6, Costa Deliziosa will be the first Costa Cruises ship to sail only in Italy, with Italian guests. Costa Deliziosa, will sail every Sunday until September 27 offering cruises from Trieste to visit Bari, Brindisi, Corigliano-Rossano, Siracusa and Catania. Costa Diadema will resume voyages on September 19, 2020, with a seven-day cruise from Genoa in the Western Mediterranean, visit the ports of Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo, Cagliari and La Spezia.
