Submitted by kgnadmin on

P&O Cruises has announced the name of its second Excel-class ship. The liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered cruise liner will be a sister ship to the recently launched Iona. This new ship will embark on its maiden voyage for P&O Cruises in 2022. The luxury liner is structurally identical to Iona. Both vessels feature an eco-friendly LNG drive system, which is currently the cleanest propulsion technology for ships.

“We are delighted to reveal that the newest member of the P&O Cruises fleet will be called Arvia, meaning “from the seashore.” Arvia is set to join the fleet in December 2022. Keep an eye out as holidays go on sale next month.” P&O Cruises announcement reads.

Around 5,200 passengers and 1762 Crew will be able to set sail on P&O Arvia. The ship will have 20 total decks, a length of 344.5 metres (1,130 ft), and a beam of 42 metres (138 ft), and total propulsion power of 37 megawatts.
