Costa To Restart 4 Cruise Ships This Summer in Europe

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Costa Cruises officially presented the program for summer 2021, which will start on May 1, with Costa Smeralda. The company decided to focus on destinations in the Mediterranean, close to the European guests offering cruises on Costa Deliziosa and Costa Luminosa in the Eastern Mediterranean and Costa Smeralda together with Costa Firenze in the Western Mediterranean. The ships will offer itineraries from several countries accessible from 13 different ports of embarkation, including Italy, France, Spain and Greece and extended time in ports.

"We have updated our program for this summer on the basis of a scenario of reopening of ports and destinations that is becoming increasingly clear and which now allows us to better plan our operations," said Mario Zanetti, general manager of Costa Cruises.

Costa Smeralda, will offer 3-4 days mini cruises from Italy, and starting from July 3, the itinerary will also include stops in Marseille, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca.

Costa Firenze will start cruises on July 4, departing in the Western Mediterranean, again with an all-Italian itinerary until 12 September, when the ship will expand cruise destinations including Ibiza, Barcelona and Marseille.

Costa Luminosa will sail Eastern Mediterranean cruises starting on May 16, from the port of Trieste with itinerary focusing on the popular Greek destinations Corfu, Athens, Mykonos and Katakolon.

Costa Deliziosa will resume cruises on June 26, visiting Venice, Mykonos, Katakolon, Corfu and Bari.

Costa is working with the national and local authorities of the countries included in the itineraries of its ships to define in detail the modalities of its operations.

The summer season in Northern Europe and all other cruises scheduled until mid-September 2021 not included in the updated itineraries are cancelled due to the level of uncertainty on the reopening of several destinations which does not currently guarantee the feasibility of the itineraries. Costa is in the process of informing travel agents and customers affected by the changes with detailed information ship by ship.
