The maiden voyage of Disney Cruise Line's newest cruise ship Disney Wish has been postponed by over a month due to a delay in the final stages of construction by the German shipyard Meyer Werft, which are caused by the pandemic and the Omicron variant.

Wish was supposed to sail on June 9, 2022 but the inaugural cruise was postponed to July 14, 2022 . This will impact 12 voyages on the ship between June and mid-July. Those affected by navigation cancellations can choose to request a full refund or get a 50% discount on a future cruise departing by December 31, 2023. Following the grand opening, Disney Wish will run three- and four-night cruises from Port Canaveral, Florida, to Nassau , Bahamas, and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay .

There is great anticipation for the debut of this ship, which will be able to accommodate around 4,000 passengers and which among the novelties includes: the Aqua Mouse , the Marvel -themed culinary experiences and the Star Wars -themed lounge for aperitifs and cocktails in hyperspace.
