A huge tornado touched down in New Orleans and its suburbs, as the severe weather slammed the area on Tuesday night. The tornado has been filmed by citizens across the city, which captured the moment when a cruise ship sailing on the Mississippi River with a tornado in the background.

In the video posted by meteorologist Brantly Keiek of WGNO-TV, you can see the cruise ship Seven Seas Mariner operated by Regent Seven Seas, passing near the tornado. The video shows a brief glimpse of a nearby tornado in the light cast by a lightning bolt.

Pictures of the tornado appearing on the Mississippi River just beside the Seven Seas Mariner were posted by Cecilia Graham, showing the size of the tornado and the distance between the vessel.

Incredible footage filmed by another person shows the scary moment from another perspective as the tornado passes by the ship.
