P&O Cruises to move Arcadia crew on other ships in the fleet

Submitted by kgnadmin on

P&O Cruises has announced cancelation of sailings on the Arcadia through July 5. The difficult decision comes as a result of lower crew numbers across the fleet and plans to transfer Arcadia’s crew to other ships in order to ease the pressure and workload.

This allocation will ensure the right amount of crew on board other P&O Cruises ships, facing crew shortages in several departments. In a letter sent to the crew P&O Cruises President Paul Ludlow, addressed the importance of allocation underlining challenges the company is facing to secure enough seafarers.

“As you’ll be aware, the ongoing impact of COVID-19 in the UK and in the wider hospitality, service and airline industry has resulted in a temporary disruption to our fellow crew members availability to join our ships.

I know this has had a real impact on everybody working onboard, creating additional pressure and workload as you strive to continually shine for our guests. Thank you for everything you’re doing to maintain our high standards – without your continued efforts we wouldn’t be able to create unforgettable holiday happiness for our guests.”

Mr. Ludlow dismissed rumors that Arcadia or any other P&O ship is facing a Covid-19 outbreak.

“I also wanted to reassure you this decision is not due to an outbreak of Covid on Arcadia or on any of our other ships, and no other ships are impacted. I’m also hopeful this will help relieve some of the pressure you are under as we bring more crew on board to support you.”
