MSC launches new shore excursions in Brindisi

Submitted by kgnadmin on

MSC Cruises guests stopping in Brindisi will be able to choose from an even richer range of shore excursions. In fact, on the occasion of the weekly call of the MSC Armonia, a new excursion has been made available to cruise passengers for all those who wish to take a guided tour of the city. The unprecedented excursion will be available for all 26 weekly calls that the ship has yet to make during the summer season, which will end on November 14.

During the excursion, it will be possible to visit the 2 most important castles of the city, Castello Svevo and Castello Alfonsino. An interesting cultural tour was carried out by MSC thanks to the tourism promotion implemented by the Municipality of Brindisi, with the aim of enhancing a new experience of visiting the city, overlooking the sea. Its port is historically considered one of the most important in the Mediterranean and is recognized by Unesco as a "witness and monument of peace, a world heritage site".

The visit to the Swabian Castle is an exclusive opportunity for cruise passengers to visit this property and is a gift from the Municipality of Brindisi in collaboration with the Navy. The Alfonsino Castle reopened to the public last year thanks to important restoration works carried out by the Ministry of Culture and is being handed over to the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage of Brindisi and Lecce.

Also considering the ports of Bari and Taranto, the whole of Puglia will be able to count on the arrival of over 370,000 tourists this year thanks to the presence of five ships - MSC Sinfonia, MSC Fantasia, MSC Armonia, MSC Musica and MSC Splendida - operating in the ports of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto.

"MSC Cruises has as its objective the tourist enhancement of the territories in which the ships arrive, with an increasingly rich and environmentally friendly offer of excursions. For this reason, we work closely with local authorities, in order to create new and interesting tours for our guests. Thanks to the great commitment of the local authorities of Brindisi today we can inaugurate this new tour which, we are convinced, will be greatly appreciated by those who reach the city on board our ship. We are also working to evaluate the feasibility of other unprecedented excursions to discover the city ”said Marialuisa Iaccarino, Head of Shore Excursions at MSC Cruises.

"The result achieved represents an excellent promotion opportunity for Brindisi, which will be presented to 60 thousand tourists by showcasing two of its most precious assets. We thank MSC for their interest in our city and for their collaboration in recent months, in which we have also specially extended the visit to the Swabian Castle for cruise passengers. We are also satisfied with the ongoing evaluation of new excursions, the result of our work with local operators for the construction of new proposals to visit and make our city increasingly attractive and competitive. " said the Councilor for Tourism of the Municipality of Brindisi, Emma Taveri.
