Police identify the missing crew member from the cruise ship Koningsdam

Juneau Police Department has identified the man reported missing from the Holland America Line cruise ship Koningsdam. The man, who has not been located was 31-year-old man from Tennessee Lorenzo Anthony Holmes Jr. Holmes who was working as an entertainer aboard the ship.

Lorenzo had been employed for the company as a keyboard player and was working on the Koningsdam since May 2022.

According to the statement, the Police department was notified by the Coast Guard, that they had received a report of a person who had gone overboard from the cruise ship Koningsdam. At the time of the incident, the cruise ship was located in the Gastineau Channel, across from the 430 block of Egan Drive.

“Initial reports from cruise ship passengers reported hearing screams from a person in the Gastineau channel. CCTV from the cruise ship confirmed a person climbed over the ship's railing and never return. Passengers from a nearby cruise ship reported seeing something fall from the cruise ship Koningsdam and then call out for help.

USCG responded to the area to search the water and JPD searched the shorelines, but nobody was located. As of 08/09/2022, the USCG has called of their search in the water.

The cruise ship Koningsdam has identified the person who went overboard as 31-year-old Tennessee resident Lorenzo Anthony Holmes Jr. Mr. Holmes was an entertainer on the cruise ship and had been working there since May of this year. Next of kin for Holmes has been notified,” the police report reads.
