Seabourn Odyssey Officially Handed Over to Mitsui Ocean Cruises

MOL Cruises, Ltd., operator of MITSUI OCEAN CRUISES, celebrated a major milestone with the handover ceremony of the cruise ship Seabourn Odyssey which will be rebranded and renamed to MITSUI OCEAN FUJI.
 

The event took place onboard the Seabourn Odyssey after the ship arrived in Yokohama, Japan, following a 22-day Farewell Voyage from the U.S. In keeping with maritime tradition, the MITSUI OCEAN CRUISES flag was raised, marking the ship’s official transition to MITSUI OCEAN FUJI, set to debut on December 1, 2024.


Captain Krasimir Radev of Seabourn Odyssey expressed pride in handing over the ship to Captain Kim Karlsson of MITSUI OCEAN FUJI, stating, "It has been an honor to serve as captain of this beloved ship, and I’m thrilled to pass her on to MITSUI OCEAN CRUISES for a new chapter."


Shoichiro Yamashita, Chief Operations Officer of MITSUI OCEAN CRUISES, thanked Seabourn for their care over the last 15 years and pledged to continue delivering extraordinary experiences to future passengers.
Following the ceremony, the ship will undergo refurbishments at Mitsubishi Shipyard in Yokohama, including suite upgrades, kitchen renovations, and rebranding of venues. The crew will also begin training for the inaugural season.


When it sets sail in December 2024, MITSUI OCEAN FUJI will be Japan’s most luxurious all-suite cruise ship, offering spacious accommodations, traditional omotenashi hospitality, exquisite cuisine, lively entertainment, and exciting ports of call.
