Residents and Crew of MV The World Join Hands for Beach Clean-Up in North Bali

A spirit of unity and environmental care filled the shores of Celukan Bawang Harbor on Saturday, November 1, as the residents of MV The World, crew members, and local stakeholders took part in a beach clean-up activity.

The Bahamas-flagged vessel, which arrived for the first time in North Bali on Friday, October 31, brought 104 residents and 299 crew members who stayed overnight before continuing their voyage to Komodo Island.

The clean-up initiative, held the following morning, was a joint effort between PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 3 Celukan Bawang Branch (Pelindo), the Port Authority (KSOP), Immigration, Customs and Excise, Health Quarantine, Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), Water Police (Polairud), and the Tourism Office. Together with local volunteers, they combed the coastline to collect plastic waste and debris.

According to Mochammad Imron, General Manager of Pelindo Celukan Bawang, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and the “Green Port” vision promoted by both Pelindo and MV The World.

“This is a tangible symbol of environmental concern,” Imron said. “The collaboration between residents, crew members, and port authorities shows our dedication to keeping North Bali’s coastline clean and supporting eco-friendly tourism.”

The visit of MV The World also served as an opportunity to showcase Buleleng’s cultural and natural beauty. After the ship’s arrival and clearance procedures, guests explored local attractions including Gitgit Waterfall, Munduk Tourism Village, and Lovina Beach. Later that evening, the port transformed into a lively venue with a Cultural Festival and live music featuring traditional Balinese performances to welcome the visitors.
