Royal Caribbean is continuing to cancel port visits to its private destination, Labadee, Haiti, due to instability and safety concerns in the region. The cruise line is now removing Labadee from itineraries scheduled through the summer of 2025.
The decision comes as Haiti continues to face escalating violence and political turmoil, particularly in and around Port-au-Prince. Although Labadee is located more than 100 miles from the capital, Royal Caribbean has decided of cautious approach, with passenger safety as a priority.
Among the affected voyages is the July 20, 2025 sailing of the Oasis of the Seas, a six-night Western Caribbean cruise departing from Fort Lauderdale. Guests booked on this itinerary have been informed that the planned stop at Labadee has been replaced with a visit to Nassau, Bahamas, while the originally scheduled sea day will remain part of the trip.
Other vessels, including Adventure of the Seas homeported in Port Canaveral, and Liberty of the Seas sailing from New Jersey, are also eliminating Labadee from their routes during the same period. Even Royal Caribbean’s flagship, the Icon of the Seas has recently skipped the destination.
As an alternative to Labadee, the cruise line is offering substitute ports where possible, such as CocoCay, Grand Cayman, and Nassau. In some cases, the schedule is modified to include an extended port stay, as with the Oasis of the Seas’ planned longer visit to Falmouth, Jamaica.
