Royal Caribbean Reveals Hero of the Seas, the Next Giant of the Icon Class

Royal Caribbean International is already looking beyond its upcoming newbuilds, officially announcing Hero of the Seas as the fourth ship in its groundbreaking Icon Class.

Set to debut in August 2027 from Miami, the new vessel will build on the success of its sister ships—including Icon of the Seas—with even more attractions, larger venues, and expanded experiences aimed at families and multi-generational travelers.

Bigger, Bolder, and Packed With Features

According to Royal Caribbean President and CEO Michael Bayley, the Icon Class has already redefined family cruising—and Hero of the Seas is designed to push that concept even further.

One of the standout features will be a record-breaking nine pools, the most ever seen on a cruise ship. Among them is the new Coconut Cove, a tropical-style pool area located near The Lime & Coconut bar, complete with in-water loungers and poolside service.

Thrill-seekers can expect upgrades to Category 6, already known as the largest waterpark at sea. Hero of the Seas will introduce new family raft slides, including what is expected to be the first funnel raft slide at sea, alongside faster and more intense racing slides.

More Space to Relax

For adults, the popular Hideaway neighborhood is being significantly expanded. The adults-only area will feature two pools, an in-water DJ booth, and what’s being described as the largest swim-up bar at sea, offering a more exclusive escape from the ship’s high-energy zones.

On the accommodation side, the ship will debut the “Ultimate Family Treehouse,” a three-level suite designed for larger groups, complete with a private terrace, whirlpool, and dedicated teen space.

Dining and Entertainment Take Center Stage

Hero of the Seas is also expected to deliver on variety, with 28 dining venues planned. Among the highlights is Royal Railway – Hero Station, an immersive dining experience themed around a train journey, as well as the jazz-inspired Orleans Parish Supper Club.

Guests will also find a mix of interactive experiences, from cooking classes in family-focused neighborhoods to adrenaline attractions like the Crown’s Edge skywalk, suspended high above the ocean.
