TUI Cruises Announces Mein Schiff Relax Captains

Submitted by kgnadmin on

TUI Cruises has unveiled the captains set to helm its newest ship, Mein Schiff Relax, as it prepares for its grand debut. Captain Tom Roth will be the first to take command, navigateing the vessel to Málaga for its christening ceremony, before Captain Todd Burgman assumes leadership for the inaugural summer season in the Mediterranean.

Captain Roth, a Swiss maritime expert deeply involved in the development of TUI’s InTUItion Class, played a key role in designing the ship’s ultra-modern command bridge in collaboration with Norwegian shipbuilder Vard.

"The Mein Schiff Relax is a significant evolution of our fleet. We are setting new standards in navigation, with optimized controls using the latest touchpad technology and flat screens. It is an honor to take this ship on its first voyages and celebrate with our guests," Roth said.

Following the Málaga christening, Captain Todd Burgman will take over, leading Mein Schiff Relax on its maiden Mediterranean voyages before the ship transitions to the Canary Islands for winter sailings. A seasoned mariner with over 30 years of nautical experience, Burgman has been a TUI Cruises captain since 2014.

"I am excited to usher in a new era of cruising with Mein Schiff Relax. Thanks to its Azipod propulsion system, the ship offers exceptional maneuverability, allowing for smooth port entries and departures—even in challenging weather conditions," Burgman said.
