A tour bus accident in British Virgin Islands of Tortola claimed the lives of two and injured eighteen Celebrity Summit guests. The crash happened on Cane Garden Bay main road at around 11 am. BVI Local news announced that two people were pronounced dead at the scene and that the other passengers in the bus were taken to the local Peebles Hospital for treatment. This tragedy didn’t involve any other vehicles and the bus driver didn’t sustain any injuries during the crash. The police didn’t released the names of people who were involved in this tragic event.
On their twitter account Royal Caribbean Cruises said: “We are saddened to report the deaths of two Celebrity Summit guests after a local bus accident in Tortola. Several others are being treated.
“Our captain is at the hospital assisting guests, in co-ordination with local officials. 16 of 20 passengers are reported to have been injured, two critically.”
BVI Police assigned a Police Liaison Officer to work along with the cruise line, the Tourist Board and families while investigations are ongoing.
Celebrity Summit departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 5 and is on a 7-nights southern Caribbean cruise.
