A new video has been posted yesterday of a young man jumping off a cruise ship while the vessel was sailing near the port.
The footage filmed by one of his friends shows the young man climbing on top of the railing and jumping off the cruise ship some 70ft into the sea. The clip was posted on Facebook by the popular sports and pop culture blog Barstool Sports, with a comment: "SEND IT OFF THE CRUISE SHIP". The jump was strongly condemned as "incredibly dangerous and stupid" by fellow passengers. Not to mention that such behavior puts him at high risk to be sucked under the ship immediately or cut by the ship’s propeller.
The name of the ship or person who jumped off is not known, however, it is believed that the lighthouse in the back suggests the video was filmed in Nassau, Bahamas. The same video was uploaded on YouTube by Zachary Garrett Reed. In one of the comments, a friend of the young man named Alex Krastev said: He's fine, I know this dude. Got a little hurt but walked it off... His legs were injured for 3 days but he's okay now.
Update: The jumper is identified as Nick Naydev from Washington. The young man jumped from his stateroom balcony on Deck 11 while the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Symphony of the Seas was in Nassau. After hitting the water a small ship picked him up. His plan was to swim to shore before returning to the ship, but when he got back to the dock, the ship security told him that he needs to get his stuff and leave the ship.
The young man said that he wasn’t the only one who paid the price for his dangerous behavior. “My whole group got kicked off,” Nick wrote, “and I got banned for life from Royal Caribbean.”
“I am truly astonished at how this video has spread throughout the internet. I did not think this through before I jumped. My idea was this would be a good laugh for my friends and I would just swim back to shore and continue my vacation and never thought this would be this serious. ” Nick said.
