Windstar Cruises Floats Out First Star Class Ship

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Windstar Cruises has celebrated the float-out of its new ship, Star Seeker, at a shipyard in Portugal. This marks the first of two vessels in the cruise line’s Star Class series.

Work will now shift to completing the ship’s interiors, which will feature 112 luxurious suites. The 224-passenger Star Seeker is set to debut in December 2025, offering a fresh and upscale cruising experience.
Following its completion, the ship will reposition, sailing from Málaga to Miami for its official naming ceremony in January 2026. Star Seeker will embark on its inaugural voyage in the Caribbean, offering a series of cruises in the region before heading to Alaska for a full summer cruise season.
Beyond Alaska, Star Seeker is set to expand Windstar’s reach to Asia, reintroducing the cruise line’s popular Japan itineraries.

Windstar’s fleet will continue to grow with the addition of a second Star Class ship, Star Explorer, which is scheduled for delivery in December 2026. Both vessels will feature ice-strengthened hulls, enabling access to new destinations, including polar regions.
The environmentally conscious design of these ships includes tier III NOx-rated Rolls Royce engines and shore power connection capabilities to minimize port emissions and reduce their environmental impact.

“Seeing a ship come together and be at the point where she leaves dry dock for the sea is a memorable milestone in the life of a new build project,” said Windstar's vice president of expansion projects, John Gunner.
