Costa Allegra will be sold for scrap?

Costa Cruises confirms there are ongoing negotiation to sale Costa Allegra to a Turkish company.

Costa Allegra, the oldest ship in the fleet of the Italian cruise company will be demolished for scrap. After the fire and damage that the ship suffered in the middle of the Indian Ocean on 27 February, Carnival Corporation decided to retire Allegra.

Negotiations to sell Costa Allegra to a group who planed to use the ship for years to come failed. According to the broker estimates, Costa Allegra needed to be sold for thirty million euros. Instead the ship will be sold for scrap for less than ten million.

Costa Cruises confirms there are ongoing negotiation to sale Costa Allegra to a Turkish company. Costa Cruises has no knowledge of the future use of the ship that will be decided by the purchaser.
