A Filipino crew member employed as a stateroom attendant was sentenced to 30 years in prison by Florida court for producing child pornography.
Arvin Joseph Mirasol, a stateroom attendant who serviced passenger staterooms, was sentenced by US District Court Judge Melissa Damian after previously pleading guilty to producing child pornography.
Mirasol's crime was discovered on February 25, 2025, after a guest aboard the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Symphony of the Seas discovered a hidden camera placed on the counter under the sink in the guest's bathroom.

The 34-year-old crew member admitted placing hidden cameras in bathrooms according to the arrest report from the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
The report said a victim, who was a minor, noticed a hidden camera and reported it to security.
Security officers detained Mirasol and turned him over to authorities when the vessel docked at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on March 3.

"Once the ship docked, on March 3, Homeland Security Investigations and Customs and Border Protection personnel boarded the ship and began their investigation," the US Attorney's Office said in a statement

The investigation found that Mirasol was in possession of numerous videos of children in various stages of undress. The victims' ages ranged from 2 to 17 years old.

The authorities found that the crew member had been placing cameras in passenger cabins since December 2023. He would reportedly enter the guests' staterooms while they were showering and hide under their beds so he could secretly record them exiting the shower.
