Cruise Ship Passengers Join Running of the Bulls Festival

More than a hundred cruise ship passengers from two cruise ships will participate in the Running of the Bulls festival in Pamplona. On July 7, 2016, 75 passengers from the cruise ship Celebrity Constellation operated by Celebrity Cruises, docked in Bilbao will come by buses to participate in this unusual festival. From the balconies or in the square, they will enjoy the festival with organized tour. A similar tour has been prepared by the tourist operator for two groups of 25 people who will arrive on 13 and 14, on the cruise ship The Word, docked in Hendaya. This is the first time Running of the Bulls tour has been organized for cruise ship passengers.  

The Running of the Bulls festival is celebrated in Pamplona, Spain, in the region of Navarra, every year from the 6th to the 14th of July. They festival become worldwide known, where the bulls are released and run through the streets of the old quarter to bull ring by accompanied by runners. The Encierro “Running with the Bulls” is event at the heart of the Sanfermines and makes the festival a spectacle, unique for this region in Spain. 

For security reasons, a double fence marks were added by the route of the bull run through the streets. Part of the fence stays put throughout the fiesta but other sections are assembled and disassembled every day by a special brigade of workers. The encierro is an unrepeatable experience for spectators and runners alike. It is a spectacle that is defined by the level of risk and the physical ability of the runners.

In 2015 three men have been gored and 10 taken to hospital with injuries sustained in the Running of the Bulls festival that lasted just two minutes and 23 seconds.
