Submitted by kgnadmin on

Cunard has unveiled the winners of its latest ‘World of Cunard’ creative competition, celebrating artistic talent among its crew. This year’s theme, ‘Sailing as Four,’ marked a new chapter for the brand as it expands to a four-ship fleet, offering new opportunities for both guests and crew.

With over 100 submissions from crew members across Cunard’s ships, the competition showcased the creativity and passion that define the brand’s global presence. Categories included Art, Photography, and Video, with winners receiving £500 each and additional £1,000 to their crew welfare fund. The overall competition winner was also awarded the prestigious ‘We Are Cunard’ trophy.

And the Winners Are…

Art Category & Overall Competition Winner: Marlon Umali, Crew Administrator, HR, Queen Mary 2

Marlon Umali took top honors with his depiction of ‘Sailing as Four.’ His artwork symbolized Cunard’s global reach, representing the four elements and four corners of the world—North, South, East, and West.
“This victory means a lot,” Umali shared. “It’s an honor to represent the creativity of our crew and celebrate Cunard’s future as a fleet of four.”

His artwork will be displayed aboard Queen Mary 2, alongside his well-deserved trophy.

Photography Category Winner: Gibson Negradas, Commis De Cuisine, Queen Elizabeth

Negradas captured the essence of life at sea with a poignant image of his colleague, Robert, a Demi Chef de Cuisine, deep in preparation for dinner service.
“This is a photo of my friend Robert,” Negradas explained. “An ordinary seafarer, proudly bearing the Cunard name on his chest. Every plate he finishes is a step toward his goals and his family’s future.”

Video Category Winner: Sayoko Sasamoto, Japanese International Host, Queen Anne

Sasamoto’s video chronicled the journey of Cunard’s newest addition, Queen Anne, from its earliest construction phases to its first moments at sea.
“My adventure on Queen Anne began the moment I saw the new Queen from the air,” Sasamoto recalled. “From that first moment to the last sunset on board, it was a truly unforgettable experience.”

Special Recognition: Norikazu Takeuchi, Learning & Development Officer, Queen Victoria

Takeuchi’s striking artwork, depicting 184 cranes symbolizing the dawn of Cunard’s four-ship era, earned special recognition. His piece is currently displayed aboard Queen Victoria and will be showcased across the fleet in the coming months.
